Bring Out the Word Plow

A week later and I’m still dead in the water. The last two chapters of “Null City” aren’t going anywhere. Writing flash fiction was a nice distraction, but that’s all it was. This time it didn’t save me, it actually probably distracted me too much from completing the first draft of my book. I find this to be rather disappointing, but there’s no sense in crying over small works.

There’s only one solution that I can see. One tried and true method in order to get past this strange form of writer’s block (I’m not without ideas, they just happen to be all terrible) and finish the first draft. So, I’m reaching into the corner of my mind for the Word Plow. Yes, that mythological device that writer’s use to till the barren land of ideas. You plunge the Word Plow to the page, you give yourself a goal and you furrow your damned laptop until you finish. If it’s rubbish, so be it, I’ll fix it after I’ve let the story decant for a few weeks.

I’m setting the height of Word Plow to ‘very deep’. Wish me luck.
