And with a heavy heart, Kotov accepts the red-chip mission. Despite his agreement to lead the biggest mission in the history of humankind, he is plagued by doubts. He picks his crew, throws himself into simulated combat, challenges his superiors regarding the plans and blocks out his friends. Despite his determination, he is not a one-track thinker and when he is called by Collingwood and given a bewildering piece of information, it causes him further internal conflict.

In this chapter, I’ve pushed Kotov to the limit before his mission. It’s up to his mental toughness to guide his team through the caves fighting a desperate enemy while promising exile to the royal family. The whole situation is bizarre, but what does a highly trained soldier do if not do all that is in his power to successfully terminate a mission? Kotov has to think of his comrade and the entire population of the planet Earth. A small step for a man, a big responsibility towards mankind.
