In this chapter Kotov decides to refresh his memory about the histories of the war with Forefathers hoping it will help him make the right decision. He starts with the official Earth histories about the Forefathers, but then he watches the unofficial holodocs which show that the Forefathers were more than just slavers. His head filled with doubts, he decides to pay a visit to Saetang to discuss whether or not the Forefathers should be obliterated. Speaking with Saetang, Kotov discovers even more facts that confuse him further and decides he needs to speak with Muller and Lopez.
Kotov poses a very soldierly, but human question; when is enough, enough? With the enemy on the ropes, what does a soldier’s morals and ethics demand of him? Should he finish the job as ordered, or should he look for another solution even if it seems there is no other solution possible? Once again, I ask the soldiers out there for their opinion.
