This story came to me as a daydream, but it wasn’t a story, it was a short horror film in my head. I could see this specific scene very clearly in my mind, especially the evil protagonist and his ‘daughter’.  I thought this would be an easy write, so I sat down but as I typed it came out all wrong.  I could see the man standing, imposing himself on the family gathered around the table but I simply couldn’t get the film in my head to come out in words.  To solve this problem, I changed perspective to the father, and this made the difference.  I can’t explain why, but by changing the point-of-view the story flowed.  This change meant a complete rewrite, but luckily 650 words is a small challenge.  It was worth the extra effort, but it has presented me with a conundrum; will I be able to write another scene?
