I should explain that this is not the first time I’ve had discussions with another writer, but it is the first time I’ve had a meaningful discussion about writing with another writer. And there’s a huge difference. For those with easy access to writer’s circles, the idea of discussing writing techniques, inspiration and so on is probably the norm, but not for me. I live in Italy, a country that really doesn’t celebrate literature and I’m writing primarily in English which means my work is less accessible. Thus, meeting a writer who wants to discuss the bones of writing is cosmic.

What did we talk about? Everything from past writing experiences, writing style and how our own personalities’ filter into our works. I think we spoke for an hour or more, but it felt like five minutes. I can’t wait for the next meeting!
