Pushing Flash Fiction

I’m not sure if I’m overdoing it, but I’m still striving to publish one piece of flash fiction per week. As mentioned in a previous post, keeping to strict limits regarding the time I’m allowed on each piece is making it possible, but what about quality?

I think a good level of quality is possible because I’m concentrating hard on what I’m writing. It’s a matter of being able to balance my own expectations. I have a lot of ideas for writing books and not enough time to write them, so I need to streamline my workflow in order to tackle more than one project at once. It might seem counter-intuitive to pile flash fiction onto my plate, but I really think these short pieces are adding more tools to my toolbox. It’s low stress writing, I don’t have to plan anything out, I can experiment with my author’s voice, and I can work on time management. Plus, these stories are fun to write.

I’m going to try and keep it up until the end of the year, and then we’ll see.
