I was cutting the grass the other day and nearly ran the machine into the ditch when I realized that I daydream a lot. I mean, pretty much all the time. Before I nearly chipped and blunted the lawn mower’s blade, I realized I was writing a scene for my newest work in my head. So I got to thinking, but this time with the mower off.
What is a daydream? I asked a friend of mine if a day dream is a form of meditation, or channelling, or something else. She did answer me, but we were on the phone and I really didn’t understand a thing, so I’m going to have to ask her again. But I am sure that it has a huge impact on my writing. So much so that I think it’s what allows me to write so much in so little time. This got me to thinking; if I managed to understand the art of daydreaming better, if I paid more attention to the moment my daydream starts, would it be better or worse for my writing?
