Though suspending my historical novel was a painful decision, it has paid dividends. I finished the novella and one of the two short stories in the “Blood Interrogator Companion Anthology”, and I’m starting the third and final short story. I’m pleased with how the prequel is coming along. It’s a tough write due to the emotional content, but it’s rewarding to see it come together rather quickly. As soon as the draft is ready, I’ll blog a little about it.

But in moments of mental rest my mind does wander. To keep my focus, I revised two pieces of flash fiction so they’ll be ready in the coming weeks. Flash fiction is my saving grace. It allows me to practice writing but also gives me a break from the larger works which require much more energy. Keeping it light helps keep my flash fiction output. I’m still looking to maintain my rhythm of one piece published per week, but only if I don’t have to struggle to manage it.

What a difference a clear objective makes!
