Cold Flash Fiction

Since I’m dealing with freezing temperatures, I think the next bit of flash fiction will be something regarding the cold. But what approach should I use? I could go with something harsh to describe the cold by concentrating on touch, a sense I rarely use in writing. When I do use touch, I think of your standards such as rough, soft, smooth and so on, but it’s also the most important sense to describe the feeling of cold in writing.

I’m at my parent’s place for Christmas, and outside it’s all white. Cold, colder and white. That sounds dull for a story e, but let’s see if I can come up with something. Maybe something with a sci-fi or horror vibe would do the trick. But I’ve written stories like that before, so I would need a different slant if I want to push myself with flash fiction.

Or maybe I could take advantage of the cold to write two stories. Maybe a Christmas tale to keep things light and a harsher piece of flash fiction to describe the cold. I’m still hanging onto my goal to publish one piece of flash fiction per week to hone my skills, so two stories would help me keep up the pace.

Let’s see what I can manage from here to Saturday.
