The writing class for how to write an autobiography is over. There were only four lessons in four weeks, and though I can’t say I learned a great deal about writing an autobiography, it certainly did remind me of writing techniques that I should already know. I discovered that I hadn’t fully interiorized techniques that I thought I knew well. The class worked as a refresher which is always helpful. I also met some interesting people with very different writing styles and interests, so from these perspectives, I would say it was worth my time.

Regarding the final writing exercise, my personal piece of flash fiction was well received, and I was encouraged to improve the beginning and the end. It was good advice and I will be making the changes to my piece. But will I continue with the autobiographical thread? Probably not directly, but there is quite a bit of me in everything I write.

That’s it for my first ever writing class. Next blogs will tackle other subjects.
