The pendulum has swung the other way. After a period of being greatly slowed by translations, revisions—and most significantly, worrying about commercial success—I’m back to having too many ideas jostling around in my head. So many that I’m back to writing too many stories simultaneously. In any given day I’m probably writing Glitter Dog (Supernatural Noir), another short sci-fi novella I just started, and flash fiction. Plus, revisions and translations.
I suppose I shouldn’t complain, but I will. I wish I could work at an even pace and plan what I will work each week, but I find it’s impossible. I do make a daily plan, but then I get a terrible creative itch that needs scratching. My new sci-fi novella is a perfect example of this. I told myself I would just jot down a one paragraph synopsis. It became two pages. I told myself I would just write the opening paragraphs. I’m on chapter three.
Well, better too much than too little.
